Event description and details
Explore the intellectual foundations of Islamic civilization through Introduction to Islamic Culture, an educational program designed to help participants develop the knowledge and conceptual tools needed to understand the relationship between religion, culture, society, and human responsibility.
Led by Dr. Hassan Al-Rumaihi, this program introduces a unique framework for distinguishing between religion, culture, knowledge, social customs, and foreign influences. Participants will explore the landscape of Islamic sciences, the classification of Islamic literature, and the role of Ijtikhlaf—as described in the program—as a framework for understanding how culture and philosophy can be translated into meaningful action and active social responsibility.
Through guided learning and critical reflection, the program aims to deepen participants’ understanding of Islamic intellectual traditions and their relevance to contemporary life. It offers an opportunity to examine how Islamic knowledge informs cultural understanding, social practices, and responsible engagement with the wider world.
